jamie & mike. the wedding.

when jamie & mike chose the beautiful laurel hall for their wedding they picked one of the most breathtaking places in the city to be married. it’s so grand, is filled with amazing history, has gorgeous light and felt like just the right place for such a special day to take place. even a last minute change in the ceremony location to the chapel upstairs (due to a fast moving afternoon summer thunderstorm) was just perfect with just the right amount of intimate & loveliness for their friends & families.

jamie & mike…thank you so very much for allowing us to capture your amazing & wonderful day…we hope these images make you smile for years and years, and we wish you nothing but love & happiness.

Caitlin Sullivan - What a STUNNING bride! Love her birdcage veil!

pedaling for a cause.

I’ve decided to participate in an experience that raises funds for a great cause, and I need your help. In just a few more days I’ll be riding my bike in Pelotonia which is a charity ride to benefit the James Cancer Hosptial at Ohio State. This year, the trek journeys from Columbus, Ohio to my hometown of Gambier…and back; a two day ride totaling over 155 miles. The following letter I wrote to my ‘8 year old self’ will make the reasons I am taking this journey very clear. Before reading it, please take a moment to reflect on the ways Cancer has already effected and has the potential to effect your life and the lives of the ones you love. Please join the fight against this terrible disease by clicking on the donation link below and allowing me to ride for someone you wish to honor.
Every single dollar counts; your support is greatly appreciated.

Dear 8 year old me,

It is over the next two years that you will form the core of who you aspire to be. In this classroom, with these friends, the particularly shy and insecure boy that you are will transform.
Your ideas will be important.
Your work will be rewarded.
Your sense of the world will expand.
Your belief in humanity will prevail.
Your awareness of feelings, hopes, and dreams will fuel your generosity.

A soothing voice will talk you out of a painful asthma attack…many times.
And although you’ll hate being different, ‘different’ will be celebrated.

You’ll remember poems, line by line, for at least the next 25 years.
You’ll know it’s perfectly attainable to become an astronaut, and perfectly acceptable to fail.
You will feel capable and bright.
You will fall in love with writing.
You’ll be encouraged to be a class clown

You’ll do all these things, and so much more, because of the beautiful soul that welcomes you, by name, each morning. Her name will be Mrs. Geiger, and she will conduct her life with grace, dignity, compassion, and encouragement.

Before you know it, you’ll be a middle schooler sticking up for someone being picked on.
You’ll be a high schooler writing fictional essays for college entrance exams.
You’ll be a twenty something working in inner city schools.

And then you’ll be in your early 30’s, heartbroken, that you will never get to tell that teacher, Mrs. Geiger, how much she truly meant to you. It will be ever so important then to remind the world that we can’t stop fighting Cancer and we cannot let someone’s legacy be forgotten.

Have purpose and ride your bike as far as your legs can carry you.

Best,
robbie.

cambrie - Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the letter you wrote to yourself! What a great way to tell the story of your reason to ride.

shereen & matt. the wedding.

meet shereen & matt. these two were married on a lovely rooftop ceremony overlooking the ohio river. totally surrounded with friends (who were amazing, funny, and wonderfully charming) and families that were smiling from ear to ear the whole day. these two are something special and we were SO FREAKING excited to be there to share in that awesomeness. πŸ™‚

shereen & matt also decided to do a “first look”.Β  they picked the RAD hotel 21C to do so in. being in an environment with all sorts of funky, one-of-a-kind art was pretty great. actually, the whole day was pretty great.

shereen & matt…thanks for being so “you guys”; we had SO MUCH FUN with you and your friends…we wish you nothing but love and happiness, now & always.

i mean, come on, how PERFECT?! really, does anyone actually KNOW how to pronounce the city name?!?! (in case anyone was wondering, i (l.) say it like “looee-ville” r. says it that way too.) πŸ™‚

Shereen Haaga - I have no words for how perfect these pictures are! And how FUN it was ‘posing’ for them!!!! You guys are unbelievable! And for the record, i want to see that photoshopped picture, and it’s pronounced loo-uh-vulle :). I love you guys!!

alex & christian. the wedding.

hold on kids, this post is gonna be a big one. πŸ™‚

to be honest, i’m not entirely sure where to begin…we’ve known chris for, i don’t know, 7 years and while that time seems like forever ago you know you have “true” friends when it feels like you’ve only just seen each other last week. our lives have taken different paths, big moves across state lines and new career paths. and while it’s always incredibly humbling when a friend asks you to document their lives on their biggest day, we were so very excited to take on the challenge. and by “challenge” i mean adventure. πŸ™‚

Β  we totally fell in love with alex during their fun, amazing, stunning, phenomenal and every other descriptive adjective in the book engagement session. we always end-up chatting about the wedding details, but when alex was describing her vision, i was all sorts of excited! she’s a totally amazing designer, who, i might add, made nearly all of the amazing details you’ll see (which truthfully needs an entire blog post).

there seemed to be a larger percentage of *goose-bump moments* during the day too…you know, those moments that make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. the moments where we as photographers know to just keep still and click away. we kind of love those moments.

i’ll end with; it’s pretty magical to be there to witness when two friends start their lives together.

and to alex & chris…we love you guys, it’s just that simple. thank you for inviting us to be a part of your amazing day.

enjoy.

ashley, chris and baby arden.

this was such a fun & special session for us…we’ve known ashley & chris for a few years now and were thrilled for them when they found out they were going to have a baby girl. we spent a few hours with them, their dog lola and their sweet, sweet baby arden just watching and observing them as a new family. ashley is such a wonderful mom,Β  the way she looks at arden could melt your heart. and chris, he’s one of the most nurturing dads; being a dad suits him well. πŸ™‚

lots and lots of love to you guys.
