stacey & matt.

first, let me start off by saying HAPPY NEW YEAR! we hope you all have the most merriest of holidays! us here in the mid-west are still thawing out from the coldest cold spells we’ve ever had (it was -14 degrees out!).

the holidays and the weeks leading up to were a bit crazy around here, in the best possible way of course, and we got a *tad* backlogged with blogs…but that stops NOW! over the new few weeks we’re excited to show you a TON of new images with BIG blog posts!!

first up are stacey & matt.

๐Ÿ™‚

these two are extra special for us…matt (or matty as i’ll refer to him for the rest of the post!) and robbie have been friends since they were kids. matty has some funny stories about some of robbie’s shenanigans when they were younger that still make me laugh out loud. HA! matty was in our wedding. he loves homer. he’s and A+ in both our books. when matty met stacey, i think everything just fell into place. ๐Ÿ™‚ we made a trip down to charlotte, nc to meet her and it was like we’d always known her…and we knew it was just a matter of time until they’d make it official (actually, i think i even said awkwardly in the car when we were driving to dinner, “so, when are you two gonna get married, i mean…” yup, i said that. leave it to me!

anyways, matty made it official while on a hiking trip and stacey said “yes!” YAY!

i’ve said it before and i’m standing by it, the mid-west in the fall is the greatest place on earth. there is no other place like it. the colors of the changing trees, the light in the morning, it’s all wonderful and i’m glad we get to photograph in it. we decided to take full advantage of such weather for their engagement session while they were on a visit to ohio. we walked around, laughed, chatted about wedding plans and grabbed some images. below are some of our favorites.

stacey & matty…we love you. we’re both so happy for you guys. see you in the ATL.

the canning family.

where oh where to start.

robbie and i feel so lucky that this family has come into our lives, and by such a fun way. long story short, laurie and one of our bride’s dad know each other…and after we posted those wedding images, laurie started keeping an eye on our work. we then announced that we’d be traveling out to VA. for our “almost annual” road-trip sessions and she emailed about wanting some images of her family. fast forward 6 years (i think! laurie, has it been that long?!) and here we are again. documenting this wonderful family and their growing girls (who we absolutely adore). these four girls are some of the most self-confident, most unique, smartest, and funniest individuals we know. it’s been fun to visit and see what wonderful people they’ve become.

YAY!

thanks you guys for making the trip, for making us laugh and for buying us ice cream afterwards. until next year!

true story…robbie and i thought about just photoshopping ourselves (and homer!) in this one. i’m pretty sure this is one good family to be in.

oh my goodness, does it get any better?

aiden on the left and ellie on the right.

paige on the left, and kyra on the right.

these girls are all such GOOD PEOPLE. the have great role models in laurie & mike. they’re all so different and it’s wonderful.

how lucky girls are to have sisters. LOVE. ๐Ÿ™‚

this is 100% paige. i love it. and her. she’s pretty awesome.

the baird family.

we always seem to have such a great time with this family whenever we see them.

๐Ÿ™‚

i’m sure you all remember betsy & tom (from their earlier post!)

it was not only their wedding anniversary, it was another anniversary of sorts as well. the property and all of the land that the baird’s farm is on has been in the same family for over 100 years. how cool is that?

some time back, mrs. baird found an old family photo that was taken not too far from where the image below was taken with the date written on it. that date was september 26, 1913. she contacted us and asked if we’d be able to do a shot to match where the original one had been taken. always up for a fun challenge and happy for any chance to see this great family, we gladly agreed!ย  this is the part of being photographers that makes our job SO INCREDIBLY cool. it was a fun change of pace and we’re still working on the finishing touches (which include large scale portraits that are both in color and sepia to match the original print) robbie has done an amazing job; we’ll post images soon!

we also spent some time getting some updated family portraits…below are just a few of our favorites.

rosie & bently the family dogs! every time we go to visit the farm we always take homer and the three of the run around like crazies and go swimming in the pond. it’s pretty cute. we couldn’t leave without getting a few fun images of these guys!

everyone should do themselves a favor. when you’re having a bad day you should look at this image. you can’t help but smile. you’re welcome!

Suzanne - As always, great pictures that capture a beautiful family. However, the fact that you refuse to capitalize the beginnings of your sentences drives this English teacher crazy!!
